Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides direct care to unstable patients within fast-paced Intensive Care Units (Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit, Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit, Neuro Intensive Care Unit, etc.) and/or Emergency Departments as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Practices within the Standards of Nursing Practice of the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Practices within the standards outlined by Carecor and our client hospitals
- Functions under the supervision of the facility Charge Nurse
- Assesses accurately patient health status, and anticipates and responds to potentially life threatening changes in patient health status
- Contributes to positive healthcare team dynamics
- The main functions include but are not limited to:
- Assessment
- Intervention
- Patient Education
- Medication Administration (oral, injection, intravenous)
- Initiation and maintenance of intravenous lines and infusion equipment
- Wound care and treatment
- Oxygen therapy
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current registration and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Baccalaureate degree in Nursing
- Minimum of 1,500 hours of experience in an Intensive Care and Emergency Department setting within the past two (2) years
- Proof of competency in ICU and Emergency clinical skills
- Excellent critical thinking skills
- Ability to multi-task, organize and prioritize care
- Ability to perform all physical duties associated with this position, including but not limited to: pushing, pulling, lifting, assisting patients, etc.
- Access to a car is an asset to travel to multiple healthcare facilities
- Proof of current immunization for measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (MMVR)
- Proof of negative TB skin test within the past one (1) year or negative chest x-ray within the past five (5) years
- Proof of current CPR (ACLS and PALS)
- Proof of N95 Mask Fit Test Certificate with a date of issue in the last two years
- Completion of Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps Training Program
- Computer skills required for accessing intranet, electronic patient records, etc.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuing education within the past two (2) years with emphasis placed on courses/conferences related to Registered Nurse role.
- Ability to work independently.
- Must be confident and adaptable to working in a variety of clinical settings and facilities.
- Able to handle stressful environment in a positive manner.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Excellent attendance and punctuality
